1. Author Visit Only
An author read aloud with integrated discussion about the power of creativity and confidence
Duration: ~30-45 min
Audience: Classroom or assembly

2. “I AM AN ARTIST” — or — “HOW TO TURN A BAD DAY INTO THE BEST DAY” (Interactive Creativity-Building Author Visit)
A themed, creativity-packed author visit that inspires confidence, collaboration, and imagination while teaching social-emotional skills. Students draw, create, and set personal goals — all in a hands-on, memorable experience
Duration: ~45-60 min
Audience: Classroom or back-to-back multi-grade sessions
Includes:
Author reading
Q&A and discussion
Interactive engagement to encourage creativity and goal-setting
Outcome:
Students feel inspired, connected to storytelling, and more confident expressing themselves, leaving with a actionable takeaway
3. “MAIN CHARACTER ENERGY” Creative Confidence Lab (Author Visit + Creative SEL Workshop)
A deeper, combined experience of an engaging author visit and interactive workshop where students build their own SEL toolkit through storytelling, creative expression, brainstorming, and actionable goals
Duration: ~90 min
Audience: Classroom or small group; back-to-back sessions in half-day residency available

Q&A and discussion
Interactive, creativity-based workshop with SEL integration with goal setting
Printable Student Toolkit Packet
This lab can be expanded into a multi-session series, with each session introducing new SEL strategies to help students continue building their personalized toolkit and strengthen resilience over time
Outcome:
Students grow their own “Main Character Toolkit” (examples: regulation + cognitive flexibility), connect creative idea generation to problem-solving, and cultivate peer engagement with empathy and healthy communication.

< What makes Tina’s workshops unique >
Along with being a children’s author, Tina has an MA in Clinical Psychology and an MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults. She has over a decade of experience across the mental health field, including art group facilitation and executive function coaching.
Her workshops are designed to bridge storytelling and social-emotional learning to create engaging experiences and tangible tools that support both creativity and student development. Some examples of the integrated SEL strategies are:
